Open House Conferences

Thank you to all of the families that were able to make it out to Stevenson last night. We appreciate the time you took to take part in your child's learning. Student's are always excited to share and celebrate their progress with family members. It is so touching to see the joy in the children's faces when they get to 'show off' what they know.

If you were unable to make it to the Open House, please call the school and we can set up an another time for your child to share their learning.

Student Mock Election

Room 5 has been studying the components of our upcoming Federal Election. Over the next couple of weeks they will study the 3 major political parties involved (Liberals, Conservatives, and NDP), examine their individual political issues (education, environment and foreign policy etc.), and develop personal opinions to take part in a mock election prior to Oct.19. The following websites assist the students in understanding government elections and each party leader's stance on political issues. Please encourage your child to look over the 3 issues listed above for each political party.

Hello there,

Last week we were learning about line in art. We are using varied lines to create an art piece - it is fun. We talked about lines - straight/diagonal/vertical/wavy and more. We are almost done.
Here are some pictures that are on their way to completion.

One of our students is showing how to read to self in one of our cozy cubbies.
We found students working on writing /grammar.

Our First Week at Stevenson Britannia

Hello Readers,

Welcome to our first blog post of the year. This has been an exciting week of learning the ropes in room 5.We have been listening to Mrs. Kaczmarz do a lot of talking about how things work in our classroom.

We have had fun sharing about ourselves, learning more about each other and our lives at home.

Math centres and a revised way of doing Daily 5 are going to be a huge part of our classroom this year. In the next couple of weeks we look forward to getting into our groups and applying all of the new skills for each centre.

Several pictures were taken of our classmates to create our class promise bulletin board. The pictures are of the students doing their jobs and taking care of each other. We will post a picture when it is complete.

Who do you think is smarter? Lebron James or Stephen Hawkings? We all had different opinions- over the last week we have come to realize that everyone is smart in their own way! Ask us how smart we are!!!

Please take time to read our blog each week and comment or ask questions. We would love to be able to reply to parent comments.

We are excited for the days to come. Here are a few photos of activities from the week.

These bulletin boards await student creativity! I can't wait to see how they develop.
Lamps and plants make this room feel like home.
Where do you like to sit? On a chair or on the floor? Find a spot that best suits your learning!

Cozy cubbies with lights and pillows for reading and working!
